An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a PC and works as the intermediary between the installed applications and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an application, it transfers requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Identical to a personal computer, hosting servers also have an Operating System that serves as a host for any software installed on them, which includes script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you'll be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer as many as 3 different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the most stable and reliable OSs you can get and we offer all 3 rather than only one because we realize that you might want to install some software that has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there are different software programs you may install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you wish to use one and because of this we offer multiple Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you need a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and set up the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server plans that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license taxes, but they’re also known as the most reliable and safe OSs. We supply three different ones as each one of them is supported by a separate community. The packages that you could add on your hosting server are different and this could matter if you need to install some piece of software with specific requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the Operating System that you'll pick. You can select any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, but if needed, we can always set up the server anew with a different one upon your request. As an additional service that you could add to the package at any moment, we can update your OS on a regular basis so as to keep it as risk-free as possible.
